Guide about Font 

I'm getting many comments and requests about Font, I therefore updated this page with very good number of links which will help you with font guide. But as per my knowledge, it's not necessary to go in depth about Fonts coz it's time taking and of course not many questions can be expected from this topic. Anyway briefing or over viewing on the top fonts in design point of view is good for safer side. So, I would recommend you to spare time accordingly.

Although it's purely observative, I can say that Fonts can be categorized into several groups. Once you know them and if you are capable of finding the difference such as

1. width of each alphabet
2. Height
3. Extensions/tooth
4. Curving/plain/bends ........etc

it would be very easy to identify difference in fonts. But if the question is like which "Font TYPE" it is, then there's no other way other than remembering them!

Evaluation and Practice questions for UCCED exam

I have covered very good number of links in this blogs UCEED resource and book collections page for your convenience.  To help you with self evaluation and to check - to what extent these concepts really helped you with better understanding, I have decided to share some random sample questions quite often. Hope this self evaluation questions are of great help to you for your preparation :)

Evaluation question 1 :

Given below is a solid in 3D. You need to observe and answer the following (try to answer these questions without putting pen on paper !)

1. How many straight lines are used to form the solid ?
2. How many surfaces are there ?
3. How many rectangles, squares and other shapes are there ?
4. How many sharp edges (corners or points) are there in the picture ?

Now the same image is manipulated and is sectioned (cut) at the specified mark. Now, what will be the answers for the above same set of 4 questions ? try to imagine and answer without the use of pen/pencil.

Watch out for more practice questions !

Answers for Q1

For picture 1

1. No. of straight lines used to form the shape in the first picture = 29
2. No. of surfaces = 12
3. No. of rectangles that is directly visible = 7; No. of squares = 0 (thanks to Advait Bharath for pointing out earlier mistake)
4. No. of sharp edges (corners) = 19

For sectioned picture

1. No. of straight lines used to form the shape in the first picture = 21
2. No. of surfaces = 10
3. No. of rectangles that is directly visible = 4; No. of squares = 1
4. No. of sharp edges (corners) = 16

Mathematical Geometry

UCEED questions seem to center mostly around mathematical aptitude; especially geometry type questions; which judge your observation, imagination, problem solving, lateral thinking and of course creativity. Keeping this in mind, I have gathered some useful materials related to basic geometry. I strongly believe that aspirants should have good knowledge about geometry solid transformations and manipulations. This subject area will directly improve your (above said) skills (observation, imagination and lateral thinking). 2. Animation movement

Basically, this section deals with step-by-step image movements; which when put whole-together, will help to create videos or animations. This type of questions needs your careful observation of the preceding and succeeding steps. For each of the example given in the link post  (below) observe the pattern and movement of hands, legs and other parts of the given image (human, animal etc)

3. Working with Geometric Objects

Like I mentioned earlier, Solving Geometric object type of questions improves your imagination as well as visualization skills; thus UCEED examiners usually included object type of questions. Generally called as unfolded views, Tessellation is all about unwrapping a solid on a flat surface and drawing the unfolded view on a paper. I also gave easy way of solving tetrahedron tessellation problem in one of my pages. check below links

Abstract Tests

Abstract, mathematical and mechanical aptitude type of questions didn't appeared in CEED exams, but those ARE REQUIRED for you ! This type of reasoning and logical questions seems to be a part of UCEED syllabus; and the sample model test that IIT B released recently proved this. I therefore, included abstract test exercises in this resources page for obvious reason. Abstract reasoning tests helps you with pattern findings and also for problem solving. 

For now, I've managed to gather some questions that would help you by giving idea of what it looks like and how to deal with those questions. Later, if time permits, I will try to give my reasoning, and some idea on how to solve such questions. (These tests were taken from pscychometric-success.com)
